Electronics Software Engineer

Summary
In order for the Amonix High Concentration Photovoltaic (HCPV) energy generation system to achieve it’s high performance, it must track the sun very accurately. The function of the tracking controller unit is to maintain the centerline of the HCPV system pointing at the sun. To accomplish this, the tracking controller actuates valves, collects and processes sensor data and collects status data on the unit. The controller consists of a microprocessor, interface electronics, and software logic. Currently the tracking controller has been designed and is fabricated by another company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Since the unit was designed and fabricated by a third party, the first order of business is to work with these various vendors to transfer the technology in-house
- You will work with these vendors as well as Amonix engineering and technical staff to upgrade the technology
- Work with high volume manufacturers to manufacture the control system
- Develop production tests, equipment and procedures for maintaining the tracking units
- Work with field installation personnel to resolve any tracking controller issues
- Prepare requirements for the in-field test equipment required to diagnose field operating problems
- Design, fabricate, and test the in-field test equipment used to maintain the controllers once deployed
- You will also be responsible for the preparation of the installation, alignment, and checkout manuals as well as responsible for writing and revising maintenance manuals for the unit

Education, Competencies and Qualifications
- A two or four year degree in a related field such as electronics, or comparable work experience
- Knowledge of hardware and software microprocessors and/or microcontrollers architecture
- Understanding of both analog and digital circuitry
- Understanding of Computer Architecture, VLSI Design, CAD tools and assembly programming
- Familiarity with C/C++, FORTRAN and Visual Basic
- A general mechanical aptitude is also desired
